Cornell University AAP College applicants: What is the application portfolio interview like?
I’m applying to Cornell for Fall 09 as either an undergraduate architecture or arts major, and I’m a bit nervous about the interview process (silly, I know), seeing as how its all important and weighted. What do they expect of you, and what should I do?
Plus, do they want to see a portfolio of your work? I really only have a fine arts portfolio (paintings, drawings), so is that okay for an architecture major?
Hey there. I applied early decision to the architecture program at Cornell and got in. I wouldn’t be too nervous about the interview. Just be yourself and be personable. Don’t worry! There shouldn’t be any questions you can’t answer. At least there weren’t for me. Just be ready to talk about yourself and why you want to study architecture.
Do bring your portfolio. My interviewer looked over mine. Fine arts is fine. My portfolio was entirely paintings I had done on my own or in art class as well as a few drawings. I had one painting with buildings in it, but other than that my pieces weren’t strictly architecture related.
Hope this helps. Maybe I’ll see you next year.
