The Fine Art of Pwnage

IS pop surrealism or pop art considered to be fine art?

I am a16 year old aspiring artists and i love pop art espicially those of mark ryden.I recently read a article about how pop surrealism isn’t recognizzed b the art world and major galleries. I enjoy creating pop art but i Am also talented at hyper realism and realism art, such as portraits, landscapes, and still life’s. would i be more successful sticking to the realism genre? Is pop art getting more popular?Do you consider pop art to be afine art?i know i have alot of questions.just curious.

There are two very basic fields:
1. Commercial art, you do what they ask, you get a weekly paycheck.
2. fine art, you do what you want and hope that someone will like it.
In Fine Art go with your passion, when you choose something where you can put more of yourself into it shows, don’t worry about what the books say is this or that, there are alot of different tastes in art and just because someone says it’s not fine art doesn’t mean that someone else won’t love it.

do both if you want and see what you enjoy more. I like all kinds of art and yes I think pop art is coming to even more popularity…have you seen anything by Peter Max..some of his stuff is in museums..some times it takes the art community a while to except an artist…that’s why you shouldn’t worry about them too much.

good luck and never stop the art

hope this answer helps :)
