Flower Drawings In Black And White

Art Journal 3

How do you create fun background, fancy and diagonal text in Word?

Since using Word Processors, they’ve been mainly used to write many boring black on white official letters. But now I’d like to write an informal fun one to my sister in law.

I use to buy great fancy writing paper with background like flowers. I’d add all sorts of fun drawings like balloons and jazz it up with different coloured fat, thin and diagonal handwriting.

Can we do that in Word? How? I have Office 97, 2003 and 2007.

I know that 97 Office has something called Microsoft Greetings that was used to make invitations; it sounds ideal for the type of letter I want, at least for background – not sure about text, can I use that? However, previous rare attempts to load it up on Windows 7 failed but I do have a XP comp.

Hi use WordArt, you can do all kinds of fancy, fun stuff with the fonts. Go to View>Toolbars>Drawing (or WordArt). As for the backgrounds, go to Format>Background>Fill Effects and try different things from there.

Hope that helped!
