JMW Turner and Petar Tale — Watercolor landscapes
How to describe a landscape painting of the art critic?
I try (now) to write a review of an image and need help.
Begin by describing only the image: what it represents and this style of painting. The color palette consists of: "local: true life colors (like green and brown earth) or is the artist to choose the color to express a state of mind? Is the eye drawn to the center of my image as a tree or a house and if so, how does that (by contrast of color?) The type of brush (smooth, rough), lines that draw the eye? I f you know anything about the artist's work before (and not just to produce a landscape?) And then a link to this table with what he / she has done before (pre-development? if so how). Finally, and not before, write down your impressions of the painting – good, bad, strong, weak, gving reasons. Is successful projection atmosphere, climate, time of day, mood?. Try to determine why the painting is successful or fails. Keep comments on a professional level. If possible, avoid the first person if possible. Statements "I" must be avoided. In exchange, for example, saying: painting called …. I hope this is helpful. .
