Can Gouache paint be used for professional prints?

What type of materials I would need to produce a professional quality mixed-media project. I am combining painting and photography. I was thinking of using gouache paint for the painting aspect; is it high enough quality to be used “professionally?” If not, what are some other paints that are versatile and of professional quality? Also, should I use canvas or something else?

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Gouache is a great paint and good quality if you are going for a flat look. That might be rather flattering if you are the photo collage. Gouache is commonly used by comics because of the flat appearance. Any paint really would work, it depends what you are going for. Oil would be good if you want a lot of shading and contrast, and if you have the drying time. Acrylic is an inexpensive way to go and give a nice variation of color. If you want a washy look then use water colors. There is no end to your possibilities. Any paint can appear professional if the work is good. You don’t have to use canvas, just go to your hardware store and get a piece of plywood cut. I like using plywood because i build a frame on the back of the piece using 2×2″s and it makes it easy to hang , and keeps it from warping. (also inexpensive!) Anyway good luck, hope this helps!
