Pen And Ink Techniques

Why I Love Black Light Pens

I feel that everybody needs to carry a black light pen within their jean pocket. They tend to be such valuable tools.

The hidden ink black light pens are usually the most handy. They tend to be fantastic for all kinds of adventure as well as for whenever you would like to get down to work. The children adore to enjoy them and the more you retain a pen in your pocket the more purposes you might uncover for the pen.

My favored use of black light pens is for tagging my personal belongings at my day job with invisible ink. I cannot explain to you how many times items such as my electric stapler or my hole punch have located a brand new dwelling inside one of the colleagues offices. I have taken the plastic tops away from each of those office resources and crafted my initials in unseen black light ink. I recognize immediately if that’s my hole punch resting on the incorrect cubical.

Authentic written documents are also extremely crucial at my occupation. Illegal copies of exclusive files are certainly not permitted to be circulating around the company. Each and every original file is authorized out to the user. I then proceed ahead and create a small tag making use of just one of my personal black lights pens somewhere on the file. Normally on a line break somewhere between the first and second paragraph, just to be regular.

Now I have got two items in the office that I know are my own. No person could take these and tell me anything else. Of course no person knows my technique yet. I will not inform them either. I can not have every person inside my office trying to wipe my invisible markings from the labeler or knowing how I realize that they borrowed my initial paperwork simply because these people had been too sluggish to legally acquire just one through authentic record command on their very own.

Just always be cautious whenever marking paper using unseen ink. At times the marking is not completely unseen and can show up even without having black lights. The particular mark may well be minor but it could be made out even with simply a quick glance from a keen eye ball.

Some folks don’t require the hidden ink but just want to be able to participate in awesome games as well as generate neat effects utilizing black light pens. In the event that this is the situation for you than get a bundle of assorted colored highlighters. Make a bit of artwork with your highlighters, turn out the lamps, and turn on your black light. You as well as your children may love the effect.

The drawn-out maps in Fantasy?

So, basically in my mind I’ve developed a setting for a novel I’m working on, but I’m having trouble maping out the world where it takes place. I’ve attended an arts high school for three years and I’m really good at art, pen and ink is my favourite technique and I wanted to use that as my tool for illustrating my world. What I’m wondering is how to do it. Surely I could draw out a map, but I want to follow the footsteps of previous authors, which in a way, their work is always neat and very classical. I’ve got a few references like Lord of the Rings, and Eragon to follow (as far as maps go), but do you know any other novels/books that have a drawn out map for the readers to follow?

If anyone could help, I’d appreciate it.

Well, many fantasy books have maps.

Perhaps a better suggestion would be to explore the map-making that goes into fantasy game preparation, i.e. Dungeons and Dragons. There is a plethora of information there in regard to making maps, and that information is generally quite transferable to a writing setting and, indeed, is based on imitating the works of famous fantasy.

However, I would recommend first writing the story – as everything in the story should be important to the story. *Then* draw a map following your story. Finally, adjust your story to fit with the common-sense features that are present in your map. For example, change travel time to a reasonable number of days. Mention the transition from mountains to foothills to plains or swamp or whatever. Consider the direction of water flow on rivers (from mountains toward ocean) and the resulting effect on climate (windward side of mountains – wet, leeward side – dry). All of these things *can*, of course, be considered *after* making a detailed map, but it is better if the map serves the story rather than vis-a-versa.
