priming canvas for oil painting?
I have purchased canvases from Cheap Joe’s called ‘Really Good Canvases” Some are stretched, while some are panels. They seem to have a white coating because on the back, they are canvas colored. Should I use some other kind of coating before I begin painting in oil, or are they ‘good to go’ I don’t want to put a painting on them if they are not going to be good for a long time. Also, what should I use to coat the painting when it is dry? I am using Winsor Newton, Gamblin and Sennilier professional grade oils.
Contact Cheap Joe’s customer service and ask. Their customer service dept. is great. They can tell you if the canvases are primed or not.
