What resolution should I scan in a sketch if I want to ink it in photoshop and zoom in without it pixelating?
Hi,
I want to start working in photoshop inking over sketches that I’ve drawn to be able to digitally work with them, but when I scan them in on default settings, they become pixelated when I zoom in through photoshop. What should I change the resolution to, (or whatever it’s called haha) to make it so that when I zoom in a little bit it doesn’t become as choppy and look like a mass of messy pixels.
All help is appreciated
No matter what resolution you scan images at you will eventually reach a point where images become pixellated when you zoom in on them. That’s the nature of bitmaps.
For most general work, scanning at 300dpi should give you enough resolution to work with. If that isn’t enough for you then try 600dpi, the image files will be much larger in size though.
