Black And White Graphics

Go Black and White with Poster Print Ads

‘Black and white’ is classic. And with everyone jumping in to take advantage of the full color mania of poster printing, sometimes it helps that you go against the trend. Businesses are always on the lookout for what they can do better – sometimes they look too hard – that it’s right under their noses. When you group your ad with other colored posters, using black and white would immediately set off a difference. Just with the right ideas and good B&W photos, you can make your ad seem like it’s the only one around.

· Half and half: If you are not ready with materials yet for full B&W, mixing half of a poster with a colored one could make you play it safe. Placing a duplicated graphic side-by-side to its colored version could be a good start if you choose to play with blacks and whites in the future. You can divide your poster in different ways, horizontal-vertical-diagonal, or in text and graphics divisions.

· Alternates: creating strips of B&W paired off with colored with your graphics could make your ad seem like modern pop art. Since it is pop, people would be familiarized with the format being used and the layout itself is already graphic design for you.

· Full B&W: Picture magazine spreads with fashion shots in black and white only – the attractiveness is mostly on the color itself. If applied into poster prints, the glossiness even makes it more attractive. Larger formats would make your poster shout out differently among the rest found within your vicinity.

For a change it would be good to use another color palette, or rather just two colors, to create a creative poster prints . In the marketing world, the more creative – the more attractive – the more responses you get. The beauty of black and white is also that you’re veering away from the trend once in a while that your competitors would suddenly look like wallpapers against yours.

How to make specific parts of an image black and white?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements, and I’ve read a lot of stuff on how to go about this, but I can’t seem to figure it out using this program. I want to make most of the picture black and white, but leave and define the coloring in the eyes. Also, when I try to add things like graphics to the picture after I’ve taken away the color, they just turn black and white as well. It would be awesome if I could prevent that from happening, too.

Thanks in advance!=)

OK THE BEST WAY IS TO PRINT IT AND THEN USE A BLACK MARKER TO GO OVER THE BITS YOU DON’T WANT. THEN YOU HAVE TO USE A SCANNER TO SCAN THE IMAGE BACK IN
